Same key count and column stagger as the Sofle, but without the two rotary encoders and with a tighter thumb cluster — it's the original design the Sofle was forked from. Against the 42-key Corne, you keep the number row on the base layer, so digits and symbols don't need a layer hold. Easier learning curve than the Corne, fewer bells than the Sofle.

The Sofle keeps a number row and gives you 16 more keys than the Corne, so most non-letter input doesn't need a layer. It's easier to learn but bigger on the desk. The Corne is the minimalist alternative if you want maximum ergonomic gain.

Wired build: in Vial, assign EE_CLR (Clear EEPROM) to any key, press it, then unplug and replug the keyboard.

Wireless build: plug the left half in over USB-C, open zmk.studio in Chrome or Edge and choose Restore Stock Settings.

","How do I switch the wireless build between my computer, tablet and phone?","

ZMK remembers up to five devices, one per Bluetooth profile. The Bluetooth keys sit on a layer of the default keymap: select a free profile, pair the new device, then use the same keys to switch between your devices instantly. The quick-start guide shows where these keys are on your keyboard, and how to forget a device.

","How do I re-pair the two wireless halves?","

First press reset once on each half, with both batteries plugged in: that fixes most cases. Otherwise, flash the settings-reset file on both halves, then the normal left and right firmware again (see the question above). The halves find each other automatically on first boot. Then remove the keyboard from your computer’s Bluetooth settings and pair it again.

","How do I enter the bootloader and flash a firmware?","

Wired build: hold the BOOT button while plugging a half in over USB-C, or double-tap its reset button. A drive named RPI-RP2 appears on your computer: copy the .uf2 file for that half onto it, and the half restarts on the new firmware. Repeat on the other half.

Wireless build: double-tap the reset button of a half. A drive named NICENANO appears: copy that half’s file (left or right) onto it, wait for the drive to disappear, then repeat on the other half.

","What's the OLED for?","

By default we display a layer. On the wireless build the OLEDs are always included: they show the connection between both halves and the battery level. The OLEDs are fully programmable: show WPM, current layer, modifier state, volume, your dog's name, or anything QMK or ZMK can render.

","What if I want different switches?","

Order the keyboard without switches in the variant selector, then drop in any Choc v1-compatible switch yourself. The sockets are hot-swap, so no soldering needed. We only stock Kailh Choc v1 Red Pro at the moment.

","Can I use Kailh Choc v2 switches?","

No. The hot-swap sockets on these PCBs are Choc v1, which have a different pin layout from Choc v2, and the larger Choc v2 stem also wouldn't fit Choc-profile keycaps. Stick to Choc v1-compatible switches if you swap from the stock Red Pros.

","What is the TRRS port on the wireless build for?","

It lets you connect the two halves with a TRRS cable and use the keyboard wired. The wireless build ships without one: a TRRS cable is sold separately.

Handle it with care: plugging or unplugging a TRRS cable while the keyboard is powered can briefly short its pins and damage the controller. To use it safely:

Before plugging or unplugging the TRRS cable, unplug every USB cable and both batteries.
Keep the batteries unplugged for as long as the TRRS cable is connected.

","How do the batteries work on the wireless build?","

Wireless builds ship with two 1000 mAh rechargeable batteries, one per side. They arrive disconnected for safety reasons. On first setup, plug the battery into its JST connector below each part. Recharge each half over USB-C when it runs low.

","Wired or wireless?","

Both options exist. Pick the wired variant (USB-C, RP2040 controller, QMK firmware) or wireless (nRF52840 controller, ZMK firmware, Bluetooth LE) from the variant selector. The wireless build runs on a rechargeable battery per half.

","Can I remap the keys?","

Yes. The wired build runs QMK with Vial: open vial.rocks in your browser or use the Vial desktop app, plug the keyboard in, and remap live. No compiling, no flashing. The wireless build runs ZMK and is configurable from your browser through zmk.studio: the quick-start guide shows how.

","Is the keyboard fully built or a DIY kit?","

Fully built. The PCB is soldered, switches are seated in the hot-swap sockets (if you ordered with switches), the firmware is flashed, and we test every key, plus every encoder where present, before it ships. You plug it in and start typing.
